El Siboney - Key West, FL

First, I had to have an El Presidente beer.. I haven't had one of them since I was last in the Dominican Republic. They are tasty! Next, I got the lima bean soup first. It was loaded with ham, chorizo, limas and potatoes. I intend to make this at home this fall! After that, shrimp enchilado with yellow rice, black beans, and plantains for $15.95. I tell you the price just to highlight what a great value this is! Shrimp enchilado is not an enchilada, rather tender, local shrimp cooked in a lightly spicy sauce with onions and peppers. I normally don't like rice, but I loved their yellow rice. And the plantains... a wonderful sweet finish. As a side note, if you don't eat all your shrimp, take them home. The next morning you can chop them up and make a great omelet with some monterey jack cheese!

The service was fast and efficient, the food great, and I loved feeling like a part of the neighborhood. El Siboney is on my list for next year!

Ahhh! Walked over to El Siboney last week and sat at the counter. On your recommendation, Lindsey, I had the lima bean soup to start & it was excellent. I had the pork tenderloin, which is prepared 'pounded' and was served w/ yummy fried bananas. Topping it off was a couple of glasses of their sangria (which is freshly made on sight). The counter service is superb and the 'people watching' is good, too.
