Hil on the Hill at Serenbe - Palmetto, GA just south of Atlanta

Everyone has told me that I need to check out Serenbe. It's a community, and if you go, you will see why I use that term instead of development, south of Atlanta. My buddy Jason and his wife love to visit there. It's like a bucolic farm for urbanites. Hip and trendy have made it back to the farm, merging "serenity" and "being" into one. Personally, I call it the commune with cash flow. The houses there are up to a cool half million but are built green and LEED certified!

To support this community, there are shops, an inn, a farmers' market, and restaurants, like Hil. Hil is the cutest, quaintest "French" bistro, without bad lighting or cigarette smoke. The decór had beautiful architectural elements, mixing antiques with a fresh feel. I made reservations for brunch, noting that I am gluten-free. They recalled this when we were seated, and the staff had already reviewed what I could have and not. Assurance that no one will kill me... Love it!

For brunch, I tried a spinach salad with poached egg, lardon, and a warm bacon vinaigrette. Very French and very good. in fact, I think it may have been the best poached egg I've ever had (sorry Mom!). Joe had a smoked salmon flat bread. It came out topped with greens that had been tossed with lemon juice and sea salt. Much bigger than he expected (it was a whole pizza), there were extra pieces of salmon to try. It was lovely.

To finish, we had the lightest, fluffiest peanut butter and chocolate mouse pie. So so delicious. Food like this is worth a beautiful Saturday or Sunday drive 20 minutes out of the city. Go enjoy the Hil on a beautiful day!
