Tamarind Seed - Atlanta, GA

One of the favorite things I love about the editing company I use is the people. The other is their location... Colony Square in Mid-town Atlanta. Why do I love Colony Square... for Tamarind Seed.

I have been to lunch at Tamarind Seed many times... I love it so much that I plan meetings around getting to eat there! On my recent trip, I had to spend a little time by their "wall of fame". Chef Nan has received a ton of press over the years and displays it in her restaurant. As I read through, I saw a few 2.5 and 3 star reviews. I was COMPLETELY dismayed.

I knew I had to right this wrong. Tamarind Seed is totally 4 star Thai. Fresh, spicy, and unique in many of the offerings, their menu, decor and high level of service take me back to Bangkok. I am particularly fond of the papaya salad with chicken and sticky rice (Somtum-Green Papaya Salad). For this latest trip, I changed it up a bit and had the duck salad (Tamarind Yum-Ped-Yang).  It was listed as a 1-pepper spicy. I thought it more towards 2 but the spice never overpowered the flavor of the duck, which was crispy but moist at the same time.

We also tried their wonderful Tom-Kha-Gai soup, which I enjoyed more than the Tom-Yum-Kung. The Tom-Yum-Kung had shrimp with the tails still on. It is difficult to cut the tails off in a bowl of soup! From past trips, I can recommend the rice paper wrapped shrimp (Kung-Thod) and steamed fresh basil rolls as other appetizers to try.

If you are in Mid-Town Atlanta, give Tamarind Seed a try. It is beautiful and yummy good... chic enough to feel special and comfortable enough to make you feel welcome.
