Cafe Madrid Tapas and a Great Business Dinner! - Dallas, TX
Tapas - little Spanish small plates meant for sharing and passing - are usually best had with people you know. I'm talking people you know well. Everyone is using the same forks, sticking fingers into things, and generally knoshing on each other's food.

I, however, love tapas for business dinners. Last night while in Dallas, I went to the lovely, down to earth Cafe Madrid. With me were my crew from C-K Advertising, based in Milwaukee. Three of us know each other but we had a newbie in the crew. The new guy... he's a vegetarian. And he's all nice, trying to do one of those "order whatever you like and I'll make do". Since I'm usually the one making do thanks to the gluten intolerance, I was so NOT having this. To contrast, my awesome agency creative director was all about the chorizo and ham.
In the end, Cafe Madrid served up divine cheeses (Cabrales, Manchego, and two other ones I don't remember), garlicky shrimp, piquillo red peppers stuffed with goat cheese (the best pimento cheese ever!), paella (my account rep had issues with the head on the shrimp hahaha!), sauteed artichokes, fried eggplant, and a flourless chocolate cake that was luscious. Really, really luscious.
It was fun. It was conversational. Our server, Wendy, lead us through the menu with care and precision. By the end of the meal, our newest team member was fully integrated into the culture of our group.
Viva Cafe Madrid and Gracias!!!!
