Bluewater Grille - yummy cocktails perfect for after the show

Bluewater Grill in Chattanooga is not a place we often go. In fact, Joe and I have never had dinner there together. It just isn't in our usual dining wheelhouse.

But then again, it does have a wonderful bar...

which is exactly where we found ourselves on a rainy evening after enjoying a performance of the Nutcracker. Joe wasn't looking for the usual glass of red wine from the Sheraton. He wanted a fancy drink fit for the holidays! He usually drinks classic margaritas and I am a dirty martini (hold the vermouth) kind of gal. The cocktail menu at Bluewater was mesmerizing though. We were tempted by exotic drinks like the "Firefly Fizz" and the "X-rated Flirtini" (oh my!).

Ultimately, Joe stepped a little out of his comfort zone. He ordered the "Agave Nectar Margarita". Made with Sauza Hornitos Plata Tequila, Triple Sec, Courvoisier VS, fresh squeezed lime, lemon and orange juices, organic agave nectar and topped with housemade agave nectar foam and lime curlies, it was gorgeous and good!!!!

For me, I went way out of my zone switching from my beloved Stoli to Courvousier, which I had never had. I asked the bar tender about it and, the taste being apparently difficult to describe, he let me sniff the bottle. There is nothing like being in a "white tablecloth" restaurant with a bottle up your nose! I couldn't describe it either so I decided to live a little and order a drink with it, the "Apricot Sidecar" (Courvoisier VS, Triple Sec, fresh squeezed lemon juice, apricot preserves).

It took a while to get our fancy drinks. The bartender apologized. Joe's was complicated he said. When I raised an eyebrow to Joe on his high-maintenance habits, the reply was "at least I didn't have to smell it". He had a point.

So how did Bluewater's drinks taste... wonderful! Creative and imaginative while being totally enjoyable! Even better, the appetizers are half-price after 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Not far from the Tivoli Theatre and right across the street from the movies, we will definitely hit Bluewater Grill for the next time we are seeking an after show treat! I'm thinking next time, the Geisha
